Week 24 - Leaving Salinas

Family and Friends!!!!!

Well as you all know transfers were Yesterday and I have some sad news, some happy news, and some amazing news!!!!

Happy News: Elder Robinson is coming to Salinas!

Sad News: I will not be District Leader and I will not see Elder Robinson!

Amazing News: I will be going to Pontezuela it is basically in Carolina.

My new companion is Elder Ramirez and I don't know who that is, I guess that happens when you are old in the mission you don't know anyone anymore.

I am sad to leave Salinas. it has been really good here and it feels a lot like home here. the weather is just right. I look forward to a new adventure in Pontezuela!

This last week I got sick but it passed by like normal and I feel better than ever!

CONGRATULATIONS to everyone that graduated this past week or these coming weeks!

Thank you everyone for the Birthday wishes it was a great day!

My birthday started different, first off my own companion forgot that it was my Birthday! Its okay I forgave him! But then we had a meeting with President Boucher, it was a good meeting, it was about the new rules about clothes for the missionaries! The missionaries in about half of the world can now use hats and Sunglasses as they are out working! That is awesome!

After the meeting we went to Hermana de Jesus and surprisingly it was a surprise birthday party for me, I still have no Idea how you did that mom but thank you so much!!!!! We had Pizza and Cake!!!! It was a great day!!!!!

I love you all and miss you tons, Sorry this letter isn't that great I am going to say goodbye to some people here before I leave tomorrow!!!!

Week 23 in Salinas

Family and Friends

This week was a hard week for us, we are struggling with the Branch a little bit again. We have had members come out with us a little but everything falls through, but the hard thing is, that the President and Brother Rivera had a meeting with us Yesterday and they were asking us for some ideas with what we could do to find more people and they are really set on us using the car but we have explained that it isn't the best Idea but they are saying that once we find the people to teach they will be able to support us more. We have tried to explain to them that we can't do this alone and that they need to help us with names of friends and family and all of this but they keep telling us that they don't know of anyone more so they want us to be out knocking doors to find then they will help. What can we do as missionaries here to help them understand the importance of working with us. We have tried to explain to them that this is a team effort but I just don't know anymore.

With that said, this week were out contacting everyday and every hour, but we have been having a hard time finding. I really want to find those people that want to listen to us and to know more about this Gospel. I was wondering if you had anymore ideas that we could use, we are contacting, talking to everyone we see and we are asking for references and we aren't getting much from this. I really feel like I could do better at this as a missionary but I am having a hard time thinking that we can find the people to teach. I know that we can find them but I just don't know the best way to do so now.

This week we found one really cool guy and he had a lot of great questions for us. He was really set on how he could find the right church and he could feel peace in his life, his wife left him about 2 years ago and it has been hard on him and he wants to feel that joy in his life again. He is a great man and just wants peace in his life.

I really have learned the importance of the work from the members. This work is not just for the full time missionaries the work for the missionaries is to teach and help people come unto Christ but the members need to help by giving the missionaries people to teach because this is a team effort and I know that if we all work together that we will all see amazing miracles in our lives!!!!!

Week 22 in Salinas

Family and Friends

This week was great for us. We are seeing a lot of things changing!!!!! We have been blessed with different miracles. We have seen the Hand of God in our work here in Salinas!!!

For us we found a guy named N last week and were supposed to have a lesson with during the week but he wasn't there, which was sad but we left a card for him and asked him to call us. But it was Friday night and we had just started our exchange, and Elder Morales got a call from him and asked if we could go by and talk to him. So Elder Morales and Elder Anderson went by to teach him and when they got there, they found out that he had read the Pamphlet twice that we gave him and he then asked for a Book of Mormon, for his reading!!!! He is such a great man, we will be setting a baptismal date with him this Thursday!!!!

I am so grateful for this opportunity I have to be District Leader here I have been able to learn so much, one of the things that I have really learned as being District Leader is that as a leader we are needed to focused on not just our investigators but on the investigators of everyone, I have been able to help a lot with the other investigators and it is really neat how as a leader we are able to receive that revelation to help everyone, I haven't really noticed how important it is to be a good leader until 6 months ago. I am so grateful for the Savior and all that he has done for us and given us this opportunity to be missionaries and members of this Church.

I have also learned a lot more about who I am and who I want to become. I love you all and miss you tons!!!!!! I know that the Lord has blessed greatly!!!! I am so lucky to be apart of this amazing work and amazing Family!!!! I hope you all have a great week and CONGRATULATIONS to everyone with the end of school you guys did it!!!!!!

Questions and Answers

MOM (WOW)

That sounds like a very busy Sunday!!!!! I am glad that you made it through!!!!!

How are you doing?

I am doing great!!!! I love it here!!!!!!!

How was your week last week?

Our last week was great learned so much.

How did your zone conference go?

Zone Conference was great since it was in May and here we have Zone Conference every three months we celebrate those Birthdays for everyone and so last week we celebrated my birthday with 8 other missionaries.

What kind of fun activity did you get to do there?

We didn't really do any activities we really just sit in a seat and listen to people talk for about 4 or 5 hours it is really fun actually.

What were the lessons you learned?

The lessons I learned were how we as missionaries and members are needed to work together and how we can teach better.

What size did you buy?

The pants were 34x32 so that is a big difference at first they were 38x32 so I have changed a little.

Did you buy anything else?

I also bought some personal supplies that I needed for the house like Shampoo and shaving cream and other stuff like that.

Week 21 in Salinas

What a week it was!!!

I had a lot of fun this week, I got to use the car 3 times this week!!!! There are reasons on why I used it so many times:

1. District meeting on Tuesday

2. First baptismal interview

3. District Leader Meeting

These 3 meeting throughout the week really helped me to grow.

District meeting:

We talked about the Book of Mormon and the importance of the Book of Mormon in our lives and in the lives of the investigators. We also took turns on sharing our favorite scriptures from the Book of Mormon. It was a super Spiritual meeting!!!

Baptismal Interview:

It was one of the most Spiritual moments of my mission, to be able to talk to someone and see how much changes they made in their life to follow the path of Jesus Christ. I have been able to feel the Spirit super strong and I know that this is the true Church.

District Leader Meeting:

I love these meetings, these meetings are with Mission President and wife, and the Assistants, and the District Leaders. But this last meeting was even more Special we had Elder Hugo E Martinez from the Seventy at this meeting. He is super funny, at these meetings we discuss the themes for our District Meetings. It was so cool to be able to have Elder Martinez with us and to be able to share with us, we liked to pick on me a lot, (I don't know if that is a good thing or not) but I really learned a lot.

This week we had an awesome experience with a member. We were out contacting and it was almost time to go home but this member said to us I want to contact that house so we went up to him and started to talk to him, he is a great guy his name is N and when we were talking to him he told us that he was looking for peace in his life and didn't know where to find it. He also said that we are the only church that he can see that are true Christians and he really likes that.

As you can see we had a great week!!!

Week 20 in Salinas

Family and Friends

This week was a little better we found 3 new investigators, and we are getting names from the members that are going to work with us now, so everything is changing here little by little.

The good news for this week is that I will get to do my very first baptismal interview this weekend for the Sisters!!! I am excited and I hope that the Lord will bless me and help me with this interview.

For us we are focusing on finding and how we can really help people understand the importance of our meetings, I have really learned that How to begin Teaching is super important. Because if we don't explain that very well they won't understand the importance of why we are here.

We are really working on that with the members, we have talked with our President here and explained that the members aren't super excited to help with mission work when they don't quite understand the message that we have. The members are really changing and trying to understand better.

Sorry it is a short letter but I want you to know that I love you all so much and miss you tons!!! I can't believe that Mothers day is next week. Dad I will let you know what time next week when we figure out all the times.

Week 19 in Salinas

Family and Friends

This week we were very blessed to be in the right place at the right time. This week we had the opportunity to give 3 [Priesthood] blessings just because we were we needed to be at the right time.

One of the blessings that we gave was to a guy named R, he had an accident at work and he couldn't see out of his eye, but we felt as to pass by to see how things are going and when we got there he told us he couldn't talk that he was going to sleep but we asked him if there was anything he needed and he said a pray would be wonderful so we got to then explain about the priesthood more with him and what it could do which is give blessings so we asked him if he has faith in Jesus Christ he said yes so we gave him a blessing, we passed by again during the week to see how he was doing and he told us that the very next day he was able to open his eyes again as if nothing had happened!!!! It was so nice to be apart of that knowing that we did what Jesus would have done.

This week we also had the privilege of planning better with the Branch President on how the members can work with us better and something that we are going to start doing is 1 a month on Sunday from like 3-7 members will be going with us and visiting our investigators because Sundays the members aren't working. Also the Branch will be starting its 40 day fast here in May, we are slowly seeing the members more willing to help us and are really changing.

I have been studying in Preach my Gospel Chapter 6 right now because there is always something that I can do better, also a little bit of Chapter 1 to help me always remember how I can be a better missionary!!!!

I love and miss you guys so much words can't explain, and am grateful for everything that you guys do for me and the wonderful examples you are to me!!!!

I love this gospel so much we learn new things each and everyday even if we don't have plans to learn something we always do. Something that I learned this week is always be prepared for anything, also a lot about faith, we have to have faith to be prepared that the Lord will help us!!!

I am so excited to talk to you all in 2 weeks!!!! The time flies by way to fast!!!!!

Another 6 Weeks in Salinas!

Family as you probably have figured out that this week were transfers GREAT NEWS I am staying here in Salinas for another 6 weeks!!!! I will continue as District Leader!!!! I LOVE THIS AREA!!!!! We are so close to helping a family be reactivated in the church!!!!

This week was a good week for us. We are seeing miracles we are seeing a lot happening here in Salinas.

One of the greatest things that we are seeing is the Less active family, they are progressing so much, they are really showing their interest in church again. On Saturday there was an activity for the Socidad de Socorro and we showed to have our Correlation meeting with the President (President Boucher, the mission President) and to our surprise the mom and the 3 kids were at the activity!!!! They are really Growing and changing their lives around!!! Yesterday we tried to call them to remind them about church because they finally bought a car so we called them and they didn't answer and church started and they still weren't there but right before the Sacrament they walked in. I was so happy. I have really seen a great progress with this family. Friday night the dad gave us a ride home and he thanked us for all the work that we are doing for this family!!!! He said that they have had so many different missionaries pass by and they all tried to help them come to church but they just weren't ready but they are now!!!!

Also in our meeting with President I was explaining how things are going with them and asking to give interviews for the 4 that are coming to church and before I finished talking he stopped me and told me thank you!!! He said thank you for persisting that we have faith in this family and work with them because of you and Elder Morales this family is coming back and none of us suspected this especially from this family.

I am so grateful for this amazing Gospel that we have in our lives!!! It has really blessed me and taught me the reason on why I need this in my life!!!! I am so grateful to be here in this mission and to feel the spirit as much as I have here.

I love you all so much and miss you tons!!!! I am glad everything is going great!!!! I hope you have a great week!!! Sorry this is short we were cleaning a car and then we surprised a friend of our investigator and cleaned her yard for her and then we had to clean the weeds that we had growing in our house!!!!

17 Weeks (and counting) in Salinas!

This week was a great week for us we are seeing a lot of new miracles!!!! This we had a good week of finding!!!! We are finding each and every week and really trying to help them to grow. For this past week we have worked hard to teach people not the lessons but also to help them understand the message.

Moss y Morales

This week we had the wonderful opportunity to teach a sister and her boyfriend their names are M and N they are really cool, we had the opportunity to teach them the First lesson and then the first part of lesson 2. we have noticed that it is easier for people to understand the Plan of Salvation when we teach up to the Atonement in one lesson and then the other part in the next lesson, so we had the opportunity to teach them and invite them to be baptized. when we invited them they said they were Catholics and didn't need to be baptized but we went back and invited her again and to be baptized and she said yes we are planning to put a date with her this week and to start helping make that change!! She is super cool and we are going to work with him and really help them progress together.

Also this week we had the opportunity to teach M and R they are a Mom and a Son!!! They are super cool. we found M when we were walking and he told us to stop by his house his mom and him wanted to talk to us. So we showed up and we shared the first message with them and they really liked it, the difficult part with them is that they can't read but we are going to help them understand everything we can, they said they like photos so we will be taking a photo book with us when we teach them.

Also we had the opportunity to teach The B Family, they are a great family that are less active. But we went and shared a Mormon message with them it was about Faith. it was such a beautiful video. They are progressing a lot. the Mom and the Kids came to church yesterday again!!!! In the Gospel Principals class the mom was participating she was reading, talking and answering questions it was so cool.

For us we are really seeing how we work hard the Lord will bless us, we are still working on getting baptisms here but I know they will come through all of our hard work.

Today we had a Zone Activity that is why I am writing late. It was super fun we played Minute to Win it games!!! My team lost but we didn't really care it was just super fun to get us all together! Here is a photo of our Zone. We also discussed different Chapters from the Book of Mormon my district had Alma 43! I love Studying the scriptures!!!!

I have learned so much as a missionary and as a district leader through a lot of different situations! I have been blessed with such a great mission!!! I have learned that it doesn't matter what the situation or the family but everyone is part of one great big family and that is our Heavenly Fathers family.
