Week 19 in Salinas

This week we were very blessed to be in the right place at the right time. This week we had the opportunity to give 3 [Priesthood] blessings just because we were we needed to be at the right time.

One of the blessings that we gave was to a guy named R, he had an accident at work and he couldn't see out of his eye, but we felt as to pass by to see how things are going and when we got there he told us he couldn't talk that he was going to sleep but we asked him if there was anything he needed and he said a pray would be wonderful so we got to then explain about the priesthood more with him and what it could do which is give blessings so we asked him if he has faith in Jesus Christ he said yes so we gave him a blessing, we passed by again during the week to see how he was doing and he told us that the very next day he was able to open his eyes again as if nothing had happened!!!! It was so nice to be apart of that knowing that we did what Jesus would have done.

This week we also had the privilege of planning better with the Branch President on how the members can work with us better and something that we are going to start doing is 1 a month on Sunday from like 3-7 members will be going with us and visiting our investigators because Sundays the members aren't working. Also the Branch will be starting its 40 day fast here in May, we are slowly seeing the members more willing to help us and are really changing.  

I have been studying in Preach my Gospel Chapter 6 right now because there is always something that I can do better, also a little bit of Chapter 1 to help me always remember how I can be a better missionary!!!! 

I love and miss you guys so much words can't explain, and am grateful for everything that you guys do for me and the wonderful examples you are to me!!!! 

I love this gospel so much we learn new things each and everyday even if we don't have plans to learn something we always do. Something that I learned this week is always be prepared for anything, also a lot about faith, we have to have faith to be prepared that the Lord will help us!!! 

I am so excited to talk to you all in 2 weeks!!!! The time flies by way to fast!!!!!

Another 6 Weeks in Salinas!

Family as you probably have figured out that this week were transfers GREAT NEWS I am staying here in Salinas for another 6 weeks!!!! I will continue as District Leader!!!! I LOVE THIS AREA!!!!! We are so close to helping a family be reactivated in the church!!!! 

This week was a good week for us.  We are seeing miracles we are seeing a lot happening here in Salinas. 

One of the greatest things that we are seeing is the Less active family, they are progressing so much, they are really showing their interest in church again. On Saturday there was an activity for the Socidad de Socorro and we showed to have our Correlation meeting with the President (President Boucher, the mission President) and to our surprise the mom and the 3 kids were at the activity!!!! They are really Growing and changing their lives around!!! Yesterday we tried to call them to remind them about church because they finally bought a car so we called them and they didn't answer and church started and they still weren't there but right before the Sacrament they walked in. I was so happy. I have really seen a great progress with this family. Friday night the dad gave us a ride home and he thanked us for all the work that we are doing for this family!!!! He said that they have had so many different missionaries pass by and they all tried to help them come to church but they just weren't ready but they are now!!!!

Also in our meeting with President I was explaining how things are going with them and asking to give interviews for the 4 that are coming to church and before I finished talking he stopped me and told me thank you!!! He said thank you for persisting that we have faith in this family and work with them because of you and Elder Morales this family is coming back and none of us suspected this especially from this family. 

I am so grateful for this amazing Gospel that we have in our lives!!! It has really blessed me and taught me the reason on why I need this in my life!!!! I am so grateful to be here in this mission and to feel the spirit as much as I have here. 

I love you all so much and miss you tons!!!! I am glad everything is going great!!!! I hope you have a great week!!! Sorry this is short we were cleaning a car and then we surprised a friend of our investigator and cleaned her yard for her and then we had to clean the weeds that we had growing in our house!!!!

17 Weeks (and counting) in Salinas!

This week was a great week for us we are seeing a lot of new miracles!!!! This we had a good week of finding!!!! We are finding each and every week and really trying to help them to grow. For this past week we have worked hard to teach people not the lessons but also to help them understand the message.

This week we had the wonderful opportunity to teach a sister and her boyfriend their names are M  and N they are really cool, we had the opportunity to teach them the First lesson and then the first part of lesson 2. we have noticed that it is easier for people to understand the Plan of Salvation when we teach up to the Atonement in one lesson and then the other part in the next lesson, so we had the opportunity to teach them and invite them to be baptized. when we invited them they said they were Catholics and didn't need to be baptized but we went back and invited her again and to be baptized and she said yes we are planning to put a date with her this week and to start helping make that change!! She is super cool and we are going to work with him and really help them progress together.

Also this week we had the opportunity to teach M  and R  they are a Mom and a Son!!! They are super cool. we found M when we were walking and he told us to stop by his house his mom and him wanted to talk to us. So we showed up and we shared the first message with them and they really liked it, the difficult part with them is that they can't read but we are going to help them understand everything we can, they said they like photos so we will be taking a photo book with us when we teach them. 

Also we had the opportunity to teach The B Family, they are a great family that are less active. But we went and shared a Mormon message with them it was about Faith. it was such a beautiful video. They are progressing a lot. the Mom and the Kids came to church yesterday again!!!! In the Gospel Principals class the mom was participating she was reading, talking and answering questions it was so cool. 

For us we are really seeing how we work hard the Lord will bless us, we are still working on getting baptisms here but I know they will come through all of our hard work.

Today we had a Zone Activity that is why I am writing late. It was super fun we played Minute to Win it games!!! My team lost but we didn't really care it was just super fun to get us all together!  Here is a photo of our Zone. We also discussed different Chapters from the Book of Mormon my district had Alma 43! I love Studying the scriptures!!!!

I have learned so much as a missionary and as a district leader through a lot of different situations! I have been blessed with such a great mission!!! I have learned that it doesn't matter what the situation or the family but everyone is part of one great big family and that is our Heavenly Fathers family.

Week 16 in Salinas

This week was a good week for us. We are seeing little miracles happen always. I was so happy to be able to listen to Conference this past weekend I learned a lot about myself and this gospel. 

This week we were learning a lot about how we can truly find those who are ready to listen to our message, last week we found new investigators and we went to them this week and they listened again, we are also finding new investigators each week.

This past week there was a less active member that not many members or missionaries could get into visit. just with her schedule from work not many people could get in but this last week Elder Morales and I had the opportunity to get in and be able to teach her and her Son, we found out that her husband is not a member but at this time doesn't really want to listen but we are going to slowly try to gain his confidence and begin to teach him. We feel that is the best thing for us to do. 

This past week we found someone named M. she was a reference from a member, she is the mom of their grandchild and asked us to visit her during the week, when we got there we taught the first lesson and she remembered everything from the first time the missionaries taught her. after the lesson we invited her to be baptized and she said yes, but when she said Yes, Elder Morales asked her why she said yes, her response is one of my favorites I have heard she said "well if Jesus was baptized and I want to follow his example then that means I need to be baptized!!!" That is the best answer I have heard to that question.

We also found a young man named L. he is 19 and we found him contacting. he let us in and we got to share the first lesson with him while we were there. he was very shy to read for us, but we felt that we should ask him to read and when he said ok he began to open up to us and began to read more and talk to us more. It was a great lesson!!! 

This was our week!!! 

For me this Conference was super good I learned so much about our gospel. One of the talks that I really liked was from President Dieter F Ucthdorf on Sunday Morning I liked this talk because he explained how at times we are all lost and that it is normal but it is through Christ that we can be found again. I related this my mission and how I have learned to be Obedient and how at one point I was lost but I came back and how it doesn't matter what we do wrong the Savior will always accept us if we are willing to come back.

Week 15 in Juncos - We must be truly converted to the Gospel

What a week!!!!! This was a great week for me and I know why I was sent here to Juncos!!!!

To start it off what I learned this week:

I really learned what it means to be truly converted to the gospel.

I have some things that I have been working on myself in my heart to be truly converted to the gospel and it is not easy. none of us are perfect and none of us know what it is like to go through physical pain and suffering like Jesus did but we all can know what being truly converted to the gospel means. I am so grateful for this lesson I have had to study and to really focus on!!!!

So great news family and friends

I am in Alma in the Book of Mormon!!!!! I have been reading it in English and Spanish and my Spanish has gotten better I am so grateful for the Book of Mormon and everything that it is has taught me. I am grateful for Joseph Smith for the Sacrifice he made to give us the Book of Mormon.

Ok now onto my week!!!!!!!!

Saturday May 2nd I have my first baptism here in Juncos!!!!!!!! His name is P he is so cool and he has honestly helped me to grow and become a better person. I am so excited to be able to watch him follow the example of Jesus Christ and come closer to him. He has quickly changed his life for himself and I am so grateful for this opportunity to teach him.

Our other investigator right now is M he is doing great we have to push his baptismal date back once more because he still hasn't come to church but it is ok I know there will be a time to be baptized and it is ok if I am gone for it.

We are really struggling to find people to teach but it is ok because I know that the Lord will bless us and help us find people to teach.

This past Saturday we had an opportunity to participate in a great service project in Caguas it is basically like Surprise Pride Day [It's a community clean-up day]. It was really cool but I am sorry to say I don't have pictures I accidentally left my camera in my car that day!!!!

My Spanish is getting better I am able to have 15-20 minute conversations with the Elders in the house I am so happy how my Spanish is coming a long!!!!

Some more great news:

My knee has not been bothering me as much and I am so lucky for that I am so grateful that my prayers and fasting has worked it hasn't slowed me down at all and it really hasn't affected me at all!!!!!

Now some bad news

It is getting to stinking hot here the past couple of days have been the hottest days in Puerto Rico what the heck!!!!!!!

I love you all and I love this gospel and I am so grateful for this opportunity to serve a mission I know I am where I am supposed to be and I am so grateful for this opportunity.

Elder Stinchfield and I are getting along great and we are doing great we have a baptism this week and really looking forward to it.

What a Week!

We are having a lot happen for us and I am getting really excited!!!!

To start it off church has just changed for us, we now start at 9 and we have Priesthood and all those classes first and then Sunday School and Gospel Principals and then we have Sacrament Meeting!!!! I like it better this way because as a missionary here in Puerto Rico people tend to be late for things and now having Sacrament meeting last we are able to get our investigators to church!!

This week we have lost a lot of our original investigators we are still teaching M, P, and J.

M:  has accepted to follow the example of Jesus Christ and be Baptized on May 2nd I am so excited he is a great young man and will really help the ward out, all he has to do is gain a testimony and I know that the Lord will bless him and help him receive his testimony.

P:  what a guy!!! Last night we had a great lesson with him!!! We taught him The Gospel of Jesus Christ and he as well accepted to follow the example of Jesus Christ and be Baptized on May 2nd! 

I am so excited for these two and I know that the Lord will bless both of them!!!! 

J:  we are getting back on track with him it is hard to get in contact with him and really hard to find him at times especially this week he is getting ready to sign with the army!!!! But I know that we will have the opportunity to talk to him and share a great message with him again!!!

So those are our investigators right now but we are really focusing on finding new people and trying to figure out the whole area. There are a lot of places that I didn't go in my training and so Elder Stinchfield and I are trying to figure out all of the area and trying to find new people to talk to and to share our message with.

 This week I learned a great lesson on how to talk to people. I really don't like talking to new people especially in a new language but with my companion has really helped me not only talk to new people but helped me with my Spanish. I am able to understand a lot more now and I can't wait until I am able to understand a lot and just be able to talk. I know that the Lord will bless me and will help me with everything that I do.

Proverbs 3:5

5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding

I have to trust in the Lord with all my heart that he will help me to understand and to speak Spanish I cannot do it alone and I know that he will help me.

I also learned how to be a better teacher and how to write a lesson plan in Spanish.

For district meeting on Tuesday I had the opportunity of teaching the district How we can become better teachers!

Here are 4 things that I shared about:

1: Use the Scriptures
     - present the scripture
     - Read the scripture with them
     - Apply the scripture

2: Ask questions
     - Inspired questions
     - Bad questions (that we shouldn't ask)
     - Good questions (that we should ask)

3: Listen
     - Always listen to the answer of the question

4: Share your testimony

I know that this works for I have been able to help people understand what we are trying to teach and help them to know that we are there for them and really care about them. I know this church is true and I know that if we trust in the Lord that he will bless us and help us to become the person that he needs us to become. I love you all and I miss all of you. Thank you for all the support and Love.
