Satan is Real (Email date 2-16-15)

Family and Friends what a week!!!

I don't know where to begin this week was super duper rough for us!!!

A lot of bad things happened but a lot of good things happened here in Juncos!!!

To start off...

How I know that Satan is really real...
J: this was so hard to hear we had a lesson with him on Friday and we found out some weird things. One he believes God tells him that he needs to smoke and that its good for him. 2 We found out that he still believes in the Law of Moses. 3 He believes that we are wasting our time with Church and our missions. But then on Sunday after we had just gotten him a ride to church he gave us a call and told us that we were wasting our time by visiting him and that he doesn't want us to visit him again, also he told us that Saturday night he heard a voice (From God) telling him that he was wasting his time by going to church and doesn't want to go anymore...

M1: this week we were getting close to committing him to baptism but he gave us a call and told his schedule changed and that he wouldn't be able to see us as much, but we worked hard and went and visited him today at a different location and got to talk to him. He is still progressing and he is really changed. I think he will be coming close to baptism here shortly!

P: where to begin with her she is doing outstanding she came to church this last week she has almost given up smoking and she has been reading and praying every day but just like M[1, above] her schedule got changed a little bit, but we are still able to teach her and work with her!!!
M2: she has gone back a little as well she still is having trouble with 3 separate beings but she is still praying every night!!!! She has not come to church yet but we are still working with her.

F: he also took a step back but we got to talk to him and we have everything working out great he is doing great and his farm is starting to look really good!!!! I know that the Lord has really blessed his life and helped him to change his view on the gospel.

A: we didn't get to see him this week but we plan on stopping by to see how he is doing he studies during the week and is always busy and we can only see him on Sundays right now..

Now as for myself and Elder Boggess we have seen some amazing miracles as well this week...

-I have been having full conversations with people in Spanish and still learning!!!
-I had an exchange in another area named Humacao and we had fun and still did work!!!
-Every Saturday we go work on a farm and help get that started!!!
-This week we walked along the highway and got picked up about 3 kilometers into our Journey!!!
-It has been raining here for three days straight now and I love it so much!!!

I know that this Gospel is true and I know that Satan is real I have seen it in my own life and now I am seeing it again out here. He is working really hard and bringing people away but I know that through our work that we will be able to smash Satan. One way to Punch Satan in the face is by Preaching the Gospel. I love this work and I am so grateful for the opportunity to serve here in Puerto Rico. I love you all and miss you so much and can't wait to hear from you again!!!!!

Con AMOR!!!!!

Questions and Answers...

What is Juncos like? buildings, streets, stores, houses?
Juncos is just like any city in the states. Everything looks almost the same except every building is made out of cement. You can't knock on the walls without it hurting your hand. Houses have no carpet at all. It sucks. To get people's attention you have to yell into the house from the street.

How's the food? What's the best thing you've eaten? The weirdest? What do you eat for breakfast/lunch/dinner?
The food is the same every day. Rice and beans.  :(  For breakfast we have smoothies. Lunch we have rice and beans and dinner we have burritos.

Do you get fed by the members?
No not really. members don't really work with us :(  We get fed about once every two weeks.

WHERE DO YOU BUY GROCERIES? [I have been asking this question for weeks, hence the ALL CAPS!]
We shop at Ralphs and Amigos

How are your shoes holding up? How's your knee feeling?
My shoes are doing great. still holding strong. my knee on the other hand is not so great. I think it's permanently damaged. I let President and Sister Boucher know about my knee and they will continue to check in on me and make sure I am doing great!!!!!! I will be asking for a blessing from the Elders!!!!!

What is your house like? Is it in a big building; is it a single family home? Are your neighbors friendly?

It is a normal house and there are four of us living in it and our neighbors are super friendly, actually, everyone is super friendly.

What do you do on your p-days? games? laundry (where do you do your laundry?) shop? hang with other missionaries?
P-days are a lot of work. We start by studying and then take an hour to clean our house with chemicals. After this, Elder Boggess and I go and email, then we go clean the car. Elder Boggess is the driver. Then we buy things we need, we do laundry. In the backyard we have a washer and then our clothes air dry. We are only allowed to be with the other missionaries in our area, but we like to play dominoes.

Tell me about your church meetings. what do you do there? do you ever have to teach? what's the building like that you meet in? how far is it from your house? Do a lot of people drive in Juncos? how does everyone get to church?
Church is normal besides only 1 ward in our building. The building is like 500 steps away from the house, we don't teach. There's a lot of driving in Juncos. a lot of people drive to church because it is a huge area.

I know that you walk everywhere and that it takes a long time to get places. What do you do while you are walking? what do you see, hear, smell while you are walking around???
While we are walking Elder Boggess and I talk to get to know each other better. We joke and have fun, but we are always looking for people to talk to. The smell is always horse poop. Everyone has horses here. There is A LOT of green here, it is so beautiful.

What's the funniest thing that happened to you this week?
Nothing really happened that was funny but I have mastered the Mickey Mouse voice  ;)  I have also figured out the Rubiks cube  :-D

Shannie wants to know if you have a printer? Can you print your emails and answer them through the week?
Yes, I can print emails and answer them.
